The Nigeria U-20 duo of Kingsley Michael and Orji Okonkwo have demanded an increase in the salary proposal tabled before them by Serie B side Spezia before they make up their mind on a move to the team.

Orji spent time with Spezia before joining up with the Nigeria U-17s where he played a vital role in helping them lift the World Youth Championship in Chile and he is presently one of the core of the present U-20 team.

His childhood friend Kingsley who is also a part of the all conquering Nigeria U-17 team of 2015 was also offered a deal by the Serie B side who spotted both players when they traveled with Football Academy Abuja to Italy for a youth tournament.

Spezia have a strong working relationship with the Abuja based academy where they plucked AS Roma duo of Nura Abdullahi and Sadiq Umar two years ago and currently have David Okereke on their books from same academy.

Owngoalnigeria.com exclusively gathered that the Serie B side offered the duo a deal worth €3,000 a month in salary but their representative ex Nigeria international Danny Shittu wants the Serie B side to raise the offer to at least €5,000 monthly.

” A deal is on the table waiting for their signature since January, but the last time we spoke with their agent Danny Shittu he told us to up the offer to €5,000 a month which we proposed to the hierarchy of the team” a source close to the deal told Owngoalnigeria.com.
