Nigeria U23 coach Samson Siasia has shunned foreign-based pros for the start of a training camp in preparation for next month’s Africa U23 Cup of Nations in Senegal, which will serve as the Rio 2016 Olympic football event qualifiers.

Siasia has instead called up 30 players from the domestic league.

It is not clear yet if the former Super Eagles coach will not call any foreign based players to join the team for the competition after he failed to Europe-based Godwin Saviour and Shehu Abdullahi for the All Africa Games, where the team won bronze medal.

Notable among those called up are goalkeeper Emmanuel Daniel, Chima Akas, Kingsley Sokari, Christian Pyagbara and Oghenekaro Etebo.

The invited players are to report at the Serob Legacy Hotel, Wuye, Abuja on Sunday, while training will commence on Monday, October 12.

All the invited players are expected to arrive camp with their international passports.
