AshantiGold SC claimed the 2014/15 Ghana Premier League title after posting a slim 1-0 victory over West African Football Academy at the Len Clay Stadium in Obuasi on Sunday.
Striker Emmanuel Osei ended the Miners league title drought as he struck the match-winner through a 72nd minute penalty.
The Miners have now won their 4th title in 19 years winning their last title in the early years of the Premier League’s history.

AshGold knew victory could win them the title with relegation-threatened New Edubiase United holding second-placed Aduana Stars at the Agyeman-Badu Park in Dormaa Ahenkro.
WAFA, who had captain Martin Antwi forced off the pitch with injury and replaced by Charles Boateng in the first-half, managed to hold the leaders for the best parts of the game until an inexperienced blunder caused them a penalty which was converted by Osei.

AshantiGold players received motivation from their team-mate Bernard Morrison who has just signed for DR Congo side Vita Clube.
The attacking midfielder was at the dressing room to congratulate his team-mates ahead of the game.
And, the pomp and pageantry was massive after the final whistle as head coach Bashir Hayford celebrated the trophy win with wild jubilation.

The Elephants trekked the Len Clay in their growing numbers to witness the historic day in the modern era in which their cherished club wrote their name in the history books after missing out on trophy for more than thirteen attempts since their last triumph.
With a game to spare, AshantiGold now sit comfortably at the top of the chart with 52 points, six points better than second-placed Aduana Stars.
