Leicester City officials are in Copenhagen to negotiate a deal to sign Ghana defender Daniel Amartey from FC Copenhagen, according to reports from Denmark.
Reports in France claim Olympique Marseille have openly declared their interest in signing the 20-year-old who can play in all four defensive roles as well as a defensive midfield role.
Copenhagen and Leicester are locked in negotiations with the Danish giants demanding £6 million while Leicester are ready to pay £5.5 million.
Leicester City Claudio Ranieri has already requested for the former Djurgarden midfielder to be brought to the King Power Stadium to join international team-mate Jeffrey Schlupp.
Copenhagen coach Stale Solbakken has confirmed Amartey will leave the club before the closure of the transfer window and is already looking for replacement.
According to reports from France, Marseille are secretly talking to Amartey to lure him to join the French giants who have sold most of their top-class players.
Marseille are ready to fork out the £6 million demanded by Copenhagen but Amartey wants to join the growing Ghanaian contingent in the English Premier League as his international team-mates Andre Ayew, Jordan Ayew and Baba Rahman have recently moved to the English top-flight.
