Ghana defender Jonathan Mensah has hailed the partnership between him and John Boye after the pair begun Ghana’s 2017 AFCON qualifiers on the right footing.

Jonathan Mensah and John Boye have become the first choice of Coach Avram Grant after Daniel Amartey’s injury in Equatorial Guinea. Their partnership proved vital as Ghana came close to winning their first AFCON trophy in over 30 years.

The former AshGold defender says he enjoys playing with Boye and that the understanding between them is visible to all.

“If we look at our previous games starting from the Africa Cup of Nations, I think we are improving. Me and John Boye couple of months ago so I think we are blending now,” he spoke to Metro TV.

“We conceded only three goals in the Africa Cup and with the last game that we played we won 7-1. So I think is not that bad and we are happy with that.”

Jonathan Mensah has featured for Ghana in two world cups and is one of the first names on coach Avram Grants team sheet.
