2026 WCQ: Ikpeba charges Eagles for Victory against South Africa

Victor Ikpeba, a former Nigerian international in a recent tv show warned the Super Eagles of Nigeria on how dangerous their opponent for next month’s world cup qualifier, Bafana Bafana of South Africa could be while encouraging them to be mentally and physically ready for the tough test, Nigeriasoccernet.com writes.

The 2023 African Cup of Nations runner up will play host Hugo Broos’ men in a 2026 FIFA World Cup qualifying matchday three encounter on Friday, June 7 at the Godswill Akpabio Stadium, Uyo in Akwa Ibom State, and with the team yet to record a win in the qualifiers, having drawn Lesotho and Zimbabwe, Ikpeba insist they must beat at their best against the South Africans.

“The game against South Africa is the game of our lives,” Ikpeba said on Supersports Monday Night Football.

“Finidi has the players having only recently reached the final of the AFCON, which was one of the toughest ever. The boys know what is at stake.

“They have to be focused and make the necessary sacrifices to ensure they beat South Africa. It won’t be easy, but it can be done,” the Prince of Monaco, as fondly called in his playing days concluded.

The Eagles will have their hamds full next month when they host South Africa on the 7th of June before traveling to Benin for a date with the Squirrels 3 days later.
