2023/24 NWFL : Nasarawa Amazons VS Heartland Queens match preview

High-flying Heartland Queens will have their hands filled to the brim against former champions, Nasarawa Amazons in Wednesday’s NWFL Premiership matchday 2 clash at the Lafia City Stadium.

Prior to the historic and first ever topflight matchup between the premier leaguers, the Owerri mainstreams dismissed the challenges of the wayfarers from the Oil City of Warri, Royal Queens with four unanswered goals while the Lafia based side ran away with an emphatic 3-2 win at Naija Ratels to pave the way for Wednesday’s evenly matched dugout.

Even though bookmakers are bemused and unsettled to predict the outcome of the epic encounter, the gaffer of the Owerri side, Obi Ogbala who had his prime record right there in Lafia together with the duo, Chimebere Opara and Uchenna Chukwu appear to have the form books to undo their auspicious hosts, Nigeriasoccernet.com reports.

Expectedly, coach Ogbala is most likely to keep faith with the lineups that made him proud in the four-goal thumbing of Royal Queens, or at least, majority of the victorious squad will routinely keep their shirts.

The Owerri landladies’ all time top scorer, Lucky Mary, who had a quiet session and major knocks against the visitors from Warri is a sure starter to lead the attack together with Opara and one goal heroine, Onyinyechi Kalu.

The midfield will be manned by the ever effective and reliable trio, Oluchi Okwara, Sampson Faith and Chidinma Anaele. And hard as nail defenders, Kelechi Orgii, Onyedikachi Ekezie, Ekaette Akpata and Chinyere Iheoma will be on duty to provide the necessary covers for netminder, Uchenna Chukwu whose debut clean gloves were greeted with aplomb performance against the Warri side.

Victory for Heartland Queens in Lafia will help them to consolidate on their firm grip and leadership hold on the group’s log.

Thereafter, the Owerri top-flights next port of call will be a very short journey to oriental neighbors, Abia Angels for matchday 3 derby.
